About Me

A ranch mom, Kay Schrock

If you are a woman who lives on a working ranch in the Great American West, this blog is for you! I share stories, recipes, and Christian encouragement. I know the unique strain that ranch life brings… I know about the low wages and junky houses and interrupted plans. I want to help you live a more fulfilling, satisfying life — right where you are! Let me help you find solutions to your ranch problems.

About Me:

I was not raised on a ranch. I have an eclectic background of country living, city streets, beach picnics, seasonal work, many moves, and quiet evenings with no TV. I was raised in a Mennonite home – trained to love my neighbor, work hard, keep house, honor God’s Word, love my husband and make a delicious pie.

I married a good ole’ country boy who was brave enough to pursue his dream and plunge into a new lifestyle. He works hard, and continually improves his skills in every area related to ranch work. 12 years ago, he started a side business which is growing – making custom saddles and other cowboy gear. He loves me despite my idiosyncrasies, laughs at my weird humor, and more often – has me laughing at his! :) He supports every venture I dabble in – including my writing, gardening, photography, and my undying obsession with baby chicks.

I have one driving passion in life – to bring honor and praise to my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. I am an imperfect, fallen human – redeemed and cleansed by the blood of Jesus. I don’t believe you can separate your everyday life from your spiritual one, so you will find my worldview sprinkled throughout my writings. I hope you can be inspired and encouraged here.

You know, I don’t know! There are some nice hotels in Laramie. I don’t know what is in Rawlins. There is a historic motel in Elk Mountain buT i haven’t stayed any of those places, so I can’t personally vouch for them. :)

Thanks for the “you are worth the effort” article. I have children whom are like the calves who want to go through fences and this article reminded me of how persistent the Lord is and that I can adopt his nature with the calves before me. The solid persistence, the daily pointing to them that Christ is the better way. The Lord did not give up on me and teaches me new things every day – so I can do the same by the power of the Holy Spirit.
