What I’ve been doing… July ’14

Like to see what I have been up to?

Nothing too spectacular, really. Just living. Working. Cooking.  Made this simple, comforting beef pie that reminds me of James Herriot and Yorkshire. :)

So I got a bunch of stuff crossed off my list, and yet my list grows instead of diminishing! :) I am also picking, shelling, and freezing peas from my garden. Watering and otherwise tending to my precious tomatoes. I plan to do a garden update one of these days. My greenhouse is crazy and out of control! 😉

What have you been up to lately?

I love summer! We have been eating lots of salad since the lettuce in my garden is so abundant, canned beans and my 14 yo just did cherry pie filling on her own for the 1st time – 25 quarts! yum! We just finished A.I.ing the last of our show cows, and the kids are getting ready for the county fair and NY state fair.
I even bought a few school supplies the other day…..

Along with working part time, this wk we canned 21 qts & 14 pints green beans plus putting some in the freezer for stir frying. Got the hog barn cleaned out. Yesterday, since our kids were visiting from Wyoming, we had our first ever branding. So good to see the /M on the calves. Afterwards we all enjoyed a cookout with family & friends that had come. These times of fellowship are a gift from God. Not everyone is so fortunate.

So true! I feel quite blessed to live this life. How fun to host your first branding! I bet that was fun. :) Sounds like everyone is in green bean mode back east… our gardens are a little behind out here.
