‘Dream Small‘, the new song by Josh Wilson, has been convicting me and inspiring me. In the midst of a world gone crazy with hustling and living to the fullest and reaching for the stars, I am digging in and leaning back. Sending a text to say ‘hey’, taking 30 minutes to go on a walk with my girls, making a meal for the mom who had a baby. Dreaming small.
The world will go on whether I am in it or not, but maybe, just maybe, I can bless one person in a way no one else can. Maybe I know that tiny detail that would bless them when no one else thinks of it. Not for thanks or honor – just to be a blessing and to be seen by Jesus. To fill in the little holes that get rubbed raw from life. To smooth the rough path just a bit. Dream small.

We need each other
What if the BIG THINGS were really the SMALL THINGS? What if a well-timed text or hand-written letter is the rare key to unlock someone’s heart? What if a listening ear turned a heart towards Jesus? What if a coffee date began the healing for a troubled teen or a traumatized spouse? Dream small.
How we can dream small
Maybe we should start tuning our ear to the silent cries for mercy and help. Maybe we should let our laundry pile up while we climb the mountain of hurt with a friend or a child. Maybe while we wash our dishes, we can call a friend and wash their troubles down the drain with a sympathetic ear. Dream small.
Maybe we can hustle to get our work done PLUS pretty up a bit and rest a tad, so we can be intentional with our husband, listen well, make him laugh, when he gets home from another hard day. What if we cared for him and carried his burden just once?
The Holy Spirit wants to guide us in all things; including how we can best help others, where we need to go and what we need to do to be a blessing to others. Pray often for wisdom. Ask God how we can best share Him with those in our circle. Dream small.

Your circle may be limited to your small kids and babies during this season – that’s JUST AS IMPORTANT! I can’t stress this enough. Not one moment is wasted on your children – whether you have 1 or 10. God sees. He remembers. He knows your efforts for Him. Keep going. Keep making time for His Word. Keep taking your troubles to Him. And dream small.
