Should moms work outside the home? This is the question John Piper tackles for us today. I like his answer. I can tell you that if I am properly caring for my home (especially when I have littles), it takes a huge amount of energy and mental stamina.
If I add ministry to the mix, it just compounds the work. Mothering is hard! My friend told me recently that it is the hardest thing she has ever done, or ever will do!
Yes! I agree! Man, it breaks you and humbles you and drives you to your knees. Often in tears. I saw what it did to our home when my mom started working. I hated it! Even at age 12, I wanted Mom at home. So take it as a gentle encouragement, dear fellow mom, if you feel like you are ‘just a stay-at-home-mom’, and yet you are exhausted. You are doing an awesome ministry right in your home.
