Summer is here in all its hectic glory! Everyone is busy from morning til night. We get up before first light, saddle up and move cattle. Then, there's irrigation or fencing or sometimes more cattle work! The days when I ride with my husband, I find it hard to get meals on the table every day. Take today for example. After breakfast, I quickly paid some bills, made a business phone call, and began loading up the kids for a town run. About then, my husband called and needed help. I tried backing it into a tight spot, but finally gave up and parked it out in the middle of the yard. Haha! I'm still practicing my trailer-backing skills!)
Then I loaded the kids in the Suburban, and we drove the hour to town. Haircuts, bank errands, grocery shopping, dr visit, ranch store... you know how it goes! When you live far from town, it just takes awhile to get everything accomplished. It never fails; I can plan a quick trip to town -- but it often turns into an all-day affair! Am I the only one? Surely you other ranch wives face this problem too; all-day town runs with a car full of hungry kids!
By the time we got home, it was nearly suppertime and everyone was tired and getting cranky. I was so glad I picked up some Red Baron pizza as a treat for everyone. I knew the kids would be happy to see it on the table!
