I am Kay, a mom, homeschooler, Wyoming gal, and disciple of Jesus. I was raised by an Amish mother who was a great cook, baker, and homemaker. I learned to cook like her: comfort food from scratch.
As a teenager, I began working in my mother's bakery and have been baking and cooking ever since. I started my own local bakery and was a popular pastry choice in the community (still often requested!). I also spent years cooking for the ranch crew, up to 30 people at a time. Later, I enjoyed working as head chef in a fine dining restaurant, learning new cooking techniques and assisting with special events. Currently, I work as a private chef on a ranch in Wyoming.
Down-home recipes and comfort foods are my jam! For me, there's something therapeutic about stirring and kneading and simmering. I enjoy playing music in the background while I cook and bake. I test each recipe multiple times before I share it, so you can be assured that it will turn out properly. With over 30 years experience, my recipes are tried and true, ready to be the star at any table!

We live in a tiny village in remote Wyoming, a place of extreme weather and cowboys and wildlife. I enjoy photographing the scenery, wildlife, and people who make up this part of the country.
Where did my blog get it's name?

We lived on cattle ranches in Wyoming for 12 years, my husband working as a cowboy. I started this blog while living on the ranch, to share my life and recipes with my friends. Then in the summer of 2019 we left the ranch, and my husband began a second career as a Wyoming State Trooper. Here we are at the Wyoming Supreme Court Building, after he was commissioned as a State Trooper!

Very good website.
Where is a good place to stay in your area?
You know, I don't know! There are some nice hotels in Laramie. I don't know what is in Rawlins. There is a historic motel in Elk Mountain buT i haven't stayed any of those places, so I can't personally vouch for them. 🙂
There is a very nice, quaint, western themed motel in Rawlins: The Rawlins Western Lodge.
(Formerly the Key Motel)
Great rates, simple family run place.
Not a lot of amenities, but plenty of places to dine close by.
I love it because of the western ranch paintings, decor and furnishings.
It reminds me of the motels we stayed in on road trips out west back in the 60's.
I realize this is a bit late but maybe it'll help someone in the future.
Thanks for your wonderful faith inspired writings.
God Bless You and Yours
Brian Fletcher
Thank you Brian! I will have to look it up next time I'm in Rawlins.
Thanks for the "you are worth the effort" article. I have children whom are like the calves who want to go through fences and this article reminded me of how persistent the Lord is and that I can adopt his nature with the calves before me. The solid persistence, the daily pointing to them that Christ is the better way. The Lord did not give up on me and teaches me new things every day - so I can do the same by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Thanks?
Hi Kay! Hope you had a blessed Christmas and that the New Year will be better than the current one! I’m no longer on Instagram or Facebook. I was hoping I saved your directions for cooking a frozen turkey, but if I did, I can’t find it. Can you help me out? 🙂
Those instructions were in an email I sent just before Thanksgiving. 🙂 Happy New Year!
Hi Kay,
I really enjoyed your article about Easy White Bread Recipe https://aranchmom.com/easy-white-bread-recipe/. Your article shows easy-to-follow recipes and ingredients that are helpful to people who might want to try this perfect breakfast recipe that looks absolutely delicious which is also best paired with coffee! It’s impressive how you want to inspire people through cooking and this blog. I've been looking at blogs like this to find good partners for my personalized coffee company - Persona Coffee
I’m sure you get tons of random messages from people so quick little bit about me. I’m a food/beverage entrepreneur, Navy Veteran, and INC 500 CEO based in Oakland, CA. I’ve been roasting coffee for the past 3 years and wanted to share that creative experience with others which is why I started Persona.
We give our customers the ability to create a fully personalized bag of coffee. They pick the beans, bean ratios, roast levels, and even customize the label. I’ve attached a sample from the bag I created. While we can customize drink orders at Starbucks with milk and sugars 87 ways, we get little say on the actual coffee so we’re changing that. With Persona, people have over 1000 different combinations to choose their perfect coffee.
If you’re interested in learning more about us, here’s a link to our site. If after checking us out, you’re excited to try us, send me a note and I'll create a promo code for you to try us out for free.
Thanks for your time and keep up the good work on your blog.
Sincerely
Claude Burns - Founder Persona Coffee

Hi Kay~
Hope you're having a lovely day. 🙂
I'm looking for a new Bible and came across your "The Jesus Bible Review." If it's okay with you, I'd like to know whether the Leathersoft cover on yours is still in perfect condition after a few years? My old Bible (the Zondervan "Bloom" collection) also uses faux leather, and it has worn off a lot throughout time, and I want to make sure this doesn't happen to the new Bible I'm buying.
Any feedback would be appreciated! Thank you & God bless.
Eleanor
Hi Eleanor,
Yes, I use my Bible daily and it is still in mint condition.
Cinch making you tube…did you ever make a video on how to warp with multiple colors?
I haven’t, I apologize! I stopped making cincha’s several years ago.
