We like spicy food and this blackened seasoning recipe fits the bill. We use it on fish or chicken. Recently, I made some spicy fish tacos using this blackened seasoning, and that was delicious.
Our little girls think it is too spicy, so I make a few pieces with just a light dusting of the seasoning or none at all. You can adjust the heat by adding more or less cayenne.
Simple ingredients
The ingredients are spices that I normally have in my cupboard. It seems like a lot, but when you cover the meat with the spice blend, it takes a lot!
You will need:
paprika
thyme
onion powder
garlic powder
sugar
salt
black pepper
cayenne
oregano
cumin
nutmeg
Easy to make
To make, just place all ingredients into a small dish and stir well with a spoon.
Pat the meat pieces dry with a paper towel, and roll in the blackened seasoning.
This recipe will coat about 2 lbs of meat.
